Multinational software company Micro Focus (www.microfocus.co.kr), the developer and supplier of Visual COBOL, and TOBESOFT (Hyeong-gon Kim, Yong-ho Choi, Co-CEOs; www.tobesoft.co.kr), the 'Business UI/UX' specialist, recently held a two-day 'Visual COBOL for Eclipse Development Seminar' for developers at the TOBESOFT headquarters from the 22nd of October.

The seminar introduced a new method for migrating[1] existing enterprise system applications using Micro Focus' Visual COBOL and TOBESOFT's nexacro platform and X-UP. This method is a fast way to build an application by converting an existing legacy system into an advanced system, utilizing the latest IT architecture to increase efficiency similar to mobile and cloud solutions.

"Through this seminar, we were able to show developers the innovative ways in which enterprise applications could be automatically converted using technologies developed collaboratively between the two companies," said TOBESOFT CEO Hyeong-gon Kim. "If applications developed through Micro Focus' Visual COBOL and TOBESOFT's Nexacro Platform and X-UP are able to gain success and recognition in South Korea, we will strongly consider future entry into European and South American markets."

Speaking about the advantages of the new method, Micro Focus Korea's Regional Manager I-deun Kim stated, "Micro Focus' Visual COBOL is a product that is widely used in enterprises throughout the world. By combining TOBESOFT's technologies with Visual COBOL, we can maintain the benefits of legacy systems while reducing systems building costs and time. Better development productivity is a certainty."

In January 2015, Micro Focus and TOBESOFT signed an agreement to collaborate in utilizing and developing leading standard technologies that enable systems modernization so that customers can respond quickly and flexibly to market changes and minimize costs and risk while at the same time preserving the intrinsic value of existing enterprise systems.

[1]Migration: Refers to the transition from a legacy system environment to the latest environment.
