- Fusion of ‘Visual COBOL’ and ‘nexacro platform’ technologies captures high efficiency modernization market.
OnMay 11th, 2016, TOBESOFT Co., Ltd. (CEO Park Gwangwon, www.tobesoft.comwww.tobesoft.com) announced the signing of a ‘Strategic Agreement (SA)’ with ‘Micro Focus’ (www.microfocus.com)’)’, a global infrastructure software company and creator of Visual COBOL, the next generation toolset for COBOL application development.
Since forging a strategic technological alliance in January 2015, both companies have been pursuing the technological fusion of ‘Visual COBOL’ and ‘nexacro platform’ and ’XGEN,’ TOBESOFT’s premier programs. The two companies will use the fusion technology created by them to modernize the Legacy System that was developed in COBOL, the first generation programming language, into the latest system that allows easy optimization to suit each user’s unique environment.
Micro Focus’ ‘Visual COBOL,’ which is a combination of several COBOL products, preserves the strengths of the existing systems designed with COBOL and enables flexible modernization of the systems’ linkage with unrivalled portability and performance for distributed COBOL applications. TOBESOFT’s ‘nexacro platform’ and ‘XGEN’ support web standards, such as HTML5?JavaScript and retain a one source multi-use technology that optimizes systems to suit users’ diverse environments. The two companies have succeeded in integrating these core technologies to bring COBOL Legacy Systems up to the performance level of next generation systems.
Steven Lee, General Manager of Micro Focus Asia said, “Our strategic alliance during the past year with TOBESOFT, the UI market leader, has resulted in remarkable synergy and innovative results. Existing COBOL corporate users will be dazzled by the technological advances to their enterprise systems from the joint efforts of the two companies. We look forward to making this partnership productive and mutually rewarding for the long term so that we can bring unique solutions to market that allow enterprise customers the ability to leverage both existing IT investments and emerging technologies to meet complex business demands.
TOBESOFT’s CEO Park Gwangwon said, “Although Micro Focus may not be known to Korean market, it is a blue chip public company headquartered in the U.K. with a client list that includes most of Fortune’s Global 100 companies, attesting to its status as a well-established international software company. Both Micro Focus and TOBESOFT retain key original software technologies that make this strategic alliance especially robust.” He also revealed, “We will focus on innovative enterprise systems and development of technologies perfectly suited to next generation IT environments via the continuous alliance with Micro Focus as highlighted in the MOA.”
